Fyysiseen teatteriin ja klovneriaan erikoistunut ohjaaja ja opettaja

Hän esiintyy myös klovnina. Mäki-Ison edellinen klovneriasoolo Kohti horisonttia (2010) sai erittäin hyvän vastaanoton ja se on vieraillut mm. useilla eri festivaaleilla. Hän työskentelee myös sairaalaklovnina (Tri Tanttarulla) ja on vieraillut Klovnirouva Marttana ikäihmisten hoitolaitoksissa. Mäki-Ison viimeisimmät ohjaustyöt ovat Maija Karhinen-Ilon musiikkiteatteriesitys Harpun voima – naamioballadi (2013), klovnikonsertti PelleBändi esittää: Renessanssin 4 Ässää (2012) ja Tiina Nopolan näytelmä Siiri ja kamala possu Helsingin kaupunginteatterissa (2011).

Finnish freelance theatre director, teacher and clown

She has worked nearly 30 years with professionals, students and amateurs of theatre, dance and circus. Taina has specialized in physical theatre and her main interests are mask theatre and clowning. She has studied clowning with Philippe Gaulier, Pierre Byland, Angela de Castro, Giovanni Fusetti and Dikki Ellis among others. She has utilized clowning in her theatre and circus directing, taught it a lot and has performed as a clown herself. She works also as a clown doctor Tanttarulla at the children´s hospitals. Taina has directed over 60 performances. Some of the latest directions: Thomas Pryke´s clown solo 40 Not Dead Yet (2015), a music theatre performances First Aid á la Kalevala by Hyvä Trio (2014) and “The power of Harp – a masked ballad” by Maija Karhinen-Ilo (2013), a clown concert “Four Aces of Renessance” (2012) performed by PelleBändi, a version of Little Red Riding Hood 20I1 (with Janne Saarakkala) at Lappeenranta City Theatre and Tiina Nopola´s children play Siiri ja Kamala Possu 2011 (Siiri and A Horrible Pig) in Helsinki City Theatre.
Taina is also a distinguished pedagogue and she has taught f.e. at The Theatre Academy in Helsinki, Arts Academy in Turku (Circus&Theatre), Circus School of Salpaus, Tampere University Acting Programme, Janacek Academy in Brno, Czech Republic and L´Ecole Internationale de Théâtre du Bénin, in Africa. Her previous clown solo Towards the Horizon (2010) received a very good feedback from the audience and several good reviews. The performance has visited also in several festivals.
