Le Petit Festival Dubrovnik 2021, Croatia
God’s fingers reunite aged lovers who wish to die together. THIS is the reason Le Petit Festival continues on this romantic 17 year journey. Just a month ago, the Le Petit carriage seemed to stop in its tracks on the way to another little fairy tale. The train cannot stop. The children of artists still have their story to tell. Vive L’Amour, Le Petit Festival, Dubrovnik, 2021!
During Le Petit Festival 2011, German artist Anja Conrad held a photographic exhibition at Gallery Sebastian. Here she formed a special friendship with Silvana DeLuigi, a magical interpreter of Argentine dance. The two young mothers bonded through their children, Rosa, 6, and Rocco, 9—magically brought together at Le Petit Festival. Their progeny, soft, pure daisy petals, side-by-side and united by the golden seeds of Dubrovnik, were two busy bees dusting all with the pollen of happiness where ever they flitted about.
“So, Le Petit will no longer be there? How sad,” sighed the German photographer.
“Unfortunately! Our budget is like tourism in Gaza and this situation with masks…”
Here the conversation was supposed to be over, but WHOA! A thought occurred to me. “Anja, does Rosa remember Rocco?”
“Let me ask her.” Silence. No noisy celebration of thoughts, while waiting for her answer.
Softly, Anja replied, “When I asked her if she remembered Rocco, she just blushed and replied demurely: “Yes, I remember him.”
The seed planted began to cultivate.
“Do you understand?”
I called Buenos Aires. “Does Rocco remember Rosa?”
The same demure flash of remembrance on Silvana’s son’s face. “Like Love in the Time of Cholera,” could we reunite the energy of these two daisy petals?” Expecting nothing, like serenity woven from light and hope… Love during Covid.
“Wonderful idea!” both mothers said.
Le Petit Festival Dubrovnik, 2021, “Light and Hope” is an unstoppable train where L’Amour is its conductor. Rosa and Rocco’s photos by Anja Conrad are the light traveling throughout Croatia to the homes of the elderly and infirmed. The exhibit will travel to Sipan, Mljet, Lokrum. The main exhibition, “Light and Hope,” opens June 24, 8p, at Pulitika Gallery. The exhibition will tenderly embrace all who believe that love is stronger than the city walls.
Croatian composer Jura Stanic—who wrote, “Who am I to judge you, At your door, My secret of love? You read my thoughts from under the golden sun.”—was inspired by Rosa and Rocco’s story and will perform in Le Petit Festival’s new play, “Theater of Closed Eyes: The Last Homo Sapiens,” at the Rector’s Palace, July 1, 9pm.
Anja Conrad njemacka umjetnica je prije deset godina imala u sklopu Le Petita izlozbu fotografija u Galeriji Sebastian a Silvana Deluigi carobna interpretatorka argentinskog tanga – najdraza pjevacica Diega Marodone – svoj koncert u Kazalistu Marina Drzica.
VII u 21h.
