Le Petit Museum: An Intimate Theatre in the Heart of Old Dubrovnik

Are you visiting the old town of Dubrovnik? Step into a hidden space where time slows down and the evening is meant for only a few.

Le Petit Museum is the newest part of Le Petit Festival du Théâtre. It sits in the oldest quarter of Dubrovnik, close to the city wall. Your host, Vinko, welcomes you into the spirit of the golden courts: the private performances of China’s imperial chambers, the closed salon entertainments of the French courts, and the secret theatrical evenings of the Ottoman sultans. Each evening is shared by no more than four spectators.

Opening as part of the 22nd annual cycle of our scientific-artistic festival, this theatre is a museum section devoted to a deeper understanding of the human being. Here the boundaries of experience shift, and you are invited to find the truer self within: more gentle, more profound, more honest.

Storytelling by the Fire

The theatre preserves the forgotten art of storytelling. Firelight crackles as if time itself had paused, and an unusual wandering poet accompanies you as ritual witness and guide between worlds. Meet the Poor Poet.

The message of the museum is clear: the spiritual dimension of the human being matters more than the material. This insight is at the heart of our small ceremony. Its length depends on the energy of the spectators and ranges from 60 to 90 minutes. Many people describe life itself as an experience that places the spiritual above the material, and here you can begin to feel the purpose and meaning of that journey.

  • There is no fixed price. The evening is based on voluntary donations that help sustain and develop the festival.
  • Small drinks and some delicate foods from the Mediterranean are included.
